Name That Puppy and Save a Life

Saving Shelter Pets, Inc., has a wonderful program called Puppy Promises

Puppy Promises is an intervention program created to save puppies before they ever enter the shelter environment (where they will be exposed to disease). Since foster homes are difficult to find, this program contracts with the owner to quarantine the pups at their home for approximately 2 -3 weeks. Once the owner signs a contract, the pups are given vaccinations and de-wormed at no charge to the owner. At the end of this quarantine period, the pups are then turned over to Saving Shelter Pets to be transported to rescues.

The Puppy Promises contract also stipulates that the mother of these puppies must be spayed at the expense of Saving Shelter Pets. Therefore, Puppy Promises not only saves puppies from disease and death in shelters; it prevents future litters from the mother as well.

I have witnessed the impact this has had on lives firsthand and give credit to the wonderful volunteers on the ground that make it possible.

SSP pays for the vet care for these sweet babies, but relies on assistance from supporters to purchase “bus tickets” for these pups. (no, its not really a bus, but a safe and warm transport vehicle) There are already 34 puppies enrolled in the program this year! Each of these puppies need just $20.00 to hop aboard.

For each $5.00 donation, the donator can submit a name for consideration to one of these precious passengers. Winning names will be announced later.
