Beach Cruising with your Best Friend
Dogs and their people have long been a fixture on walking trails and at the park. Have you considered taking them to the beach? I know that it might be a little cold and wet where you are, but where I live, the weather is just perfect. We have cold for a week or too, and the rest of the winter will be “light sweater” suitable. We look to take our dogs for outdoor adventures because they won’t overheat and can really enjoy the day for a longer period of time outdoors.
A new way to bond with your four legged friend, and to get in some good aerobic excercise for you both is to invest in a beach cruiser. They are especially equipped for riding on pavement and sand. The sand may create some good resistence for you, but also make your pace slow enough for your medium or large dog pal to jog along side you.
Being that I have scent hounds, I would never let them jog without a leash as the distraction factor may be too high, but it would be easy enough at the relaxed pace to hold a longer lead while riding.
I saw on cruiserstyle.com that they have lowriders and choppers in their style line up. Those would be very popular around here, as motorcycle influenced items are popular here.
Have you beached it or biked it with your dog? Let me know how you liked it.

I take my dachshund to the beach in Staten Island at least once a month, and in the off season she can even run off lead. Its great exercise and a place she can dig like a maniac without damaging anything. We’ve also gone on vacations to ocean beaches. If I could only cure her crab chasing obsession. Some day her nose will get pinched!
