Another Sunday Stream of Consciousness
Here’s another stream of consciousness.
When I was a bit younger, I went on a trip with my Spanish class to Mexico. We sold candy bars and everything else under the sun, and scrimped and saved for almost a full year to be able to go. I must have been a strange teenager. I was so excited to see the pyramids and the different history and art museums. The silver mines were also a highlight. However, most of my companions were pretty bored until we got to Acapulco.
What really surprised me while I was there is the number of Australians that were at the beach. I would have thought with so many islands in the pacific, they would have taken a flight to one of them, or booked flights to New Zealand. I would have jumped at the chance if I were them. Because of the isolation, the flowers and some of the animals look like nothing you have seen anywhere. Of course the kiwi is the most known example. Maybe I just assume that everyone is an animal lover like me. Australians probably get sick of American and Canadian teenagers asking if they have ever petted a kangaroo.
Maybe I shouldn’t blame them because I have not seen much of the natural wonders that are in my own country, yet I used my very first plane ride to sit on the beach with Australians in Acapulco.
