A Cure for Blog Writer’s Block.
This morning, I experienced a bout of writer’s block. Actually, I tend to get a little backed up in the brain by the end of the week, especially if it doesn’t look very clear that enough pets at the shelters I keep an eye on will be claimed to make a difference. I sometimes read John’s blog John Is Fit. I admire his perseverance in sticking to his goals. Today I was treated to a post that is really relevant to me, Tips for Kick Starting Your Dormant Weight Loss Blog . Obviously, my blog only touches upon the subject in a blue moon, but the tips are extremely relevant to just about anyone.
While my hiatus may not be as dramatic as some blogs who lie dormant for months, the tips did a lot of good into getting me kickstarted this morning.
Some are pretty standard for curing writer’s block, but I didn’t think of this one.
Tell someone about your blog. Still blogging anonymously? Tell someone in the “real world” about your blog and your weight loss journey, and ask that they support you. It’s too easy to disappear off the face of the blogging planet if you nobody in your life knows about your weight loss blog.
Even though our subjects are different, this is something that is a stumbling block for me. I was never one to toot my own horn. In review, and to use a bad metaphor, I don’t just not toot my own horn, I make sure those around me don’t know I even own a horn. In fact, in real life I most definitely do. It is just in the garage hidden away somewhere. Now I am getting off topic.
The biggest way to jumpstart your writing is to tell someone about it. It sort of holds you accountable to continue with it, now that you have told someone about it. Also, ten years ago when I was lecturing, someone addressed my fear of not being qualified. “You know just slightly more about the subject than they do, right? That’s all you need.” You can teach people something.
And who is the one who knows slightly more about you or your experiences? No one in the room could raise their hand on that one.
My challenge for you today is to tell somebody about your blog or website. Don’t email anyone about it. Tell someone in the grocery aisle. Tell a neighbor. Tell your hairdresser. But just tell somebody.

Glad I could inspire you! And I really appreciate the in- depth look at that one point - I love the fact you called that out as a challenge, I think it’s a great idea.
