Lily Is Safe But Needs Help from Us

Just wanted to post an update on Lily, the dog with the embedded collar that I mentioned on March 7th. CLICK HERE for more of her story.

She is safe, but she still needs help.

th_lilyneck.jpgLily’s surgery was astronomical, but VERY necessary. Lilly has lived with a her skin growing around a chain collar for quite some time now. If it had stayed in longer, she could have become extremely infected. The little bit of chain that was dangling out of her neck also could have become rusty, which would not only have been uncomfortable, but could very well been fatal to Lily. The photo at left shows Lily post op.

It is such a shame that a simple act as spending just a couple dollars to replace the collar that your puppy has outgrown is all it would have taken for Lily to have been able to avoid all of this. Lily’s “inmate photo:”

Please consider helping Lily. No donation is too small, and it goes towards helping Lily make her final journey transported to her rescue where she can be adopted by someone who treasures her for the sweet girl that she is. It also helps rescue the next dog more quickly.

If you would like to help Lily, tax deductible donations are being taken through Saving Shelter Pets, Inc. Please mark your donation “for Lily or urgent dog in need.”

bebe.jpgBeBe, another familiar face on this blog, is waiting to be pulled from the shelter. SSP needs funds for her spay and transport so that she can start her new life. She needs $200 to cover her vetting, and bus fare to get on her way to a new life. Saving Shelter Pets is based on an innovative model. They pull dogs that fit within the programs of their approved rescues and fully vet them, and quarantine them to make sure they are healthy to travel. It allows the rescues to save more dogs as these dogs do not have health matters that delay an adoption to the right family. Also, the dogs come from off the beaten path shelters where they have little or no help of getting adopted, even if they are highly adoptable.

BeBe cannot be pulled unless there are funds.

  3. I am glad that Lily is getting better. Hopefully those that read this will in fact send a donation. I did because this dog and others do need financial assistance. Keep up the good work

  4. Thank you so very much Kay! That is very nice of you.
Pandora – thank you! I will post “after” photos when she is safely at her rescue, recovered, and ready for her new life.
Feefifoto – I report it, but am not always responsible for the rescue of all the pets I talk about. The true credit should go to the rescue who said “yes” to her, the donors, and everyone else who saw her here prior that has been praying that she would make it out of the pound.
