California Company Encourages Employees to Give Back
One of the worries about the Big Three is not just the impact on the economy, but the impact on philanthropy. There are many local causes that Big Three employees support with taking time to volunteer as a group, encouraged and donated to by their employer. It is feared that some local charities will come up short.
Cydcor, a company specializing in outsourced sales, is still involved in many philanthropic efforts despite any potential downturn.
Cydcor corporate culture provides time off to employees to volunteer and give back to the community. Casa Pacifica, which serves abused youth in southern California, has benefitted by a partnership with the company. One day, 60 Cydcor employees reported for duty to help unload donations from the community and sort them for age and gender apropriateness. The faces of 360 children were also brightened by a toy drive that they had.
As a part of their training weekend, Cydcor employees volunteered at an auction and dinner for the local Boys & Girls Club. They delivered prizes, and worked the crowd to remind them that it was all for a good cause. $150,000 was raised.
If you are fortunate this year, why not follow Cydcor’s example of encouraging your employees to volunteer by giving them the support to do so? It increases ties to the community for your business, as well as increasing employee morale. When someone is supported in doing something that is important to them, it increase their wellbeing and their pride in their job.
