Am I Out of The Fashion Loop?
One of my dogs is a sock destroyer. He likes to run with them. Inevitably, no matter how many times I take them away, I find a little stash far under the bed during spring cleaning. I am clearly out of the fashion loop that I so thought I was in. Hue, who carries a plethora of cute and colorful socks, also carries footless tights. On the product description, they proclaim that it is the “hottest accessory of the season.” Firstly, some of the material is too sheer to wear them as pants under a big sweater, ala 1980s. They stop at the ankle or capri length, so wearing them with a skirt and heels might look like something is missing. I suppose you could wear them with boots.
Now, that is a good idea. Wear a skirt, then wear these leggings with fashionable boots. Because the tights end at the ankle, you won’t have that cold foot sensation like you do wearing pantyhose with boots. You could wear a pair of woolen socks in the elegant riding style boots and nobody would know! You wouldn’t be in any danger of snagging the feet of your stockings or tights because there wouldn’t be any. Of course, I never put pantyhose, or stockings on until the last minute because they are cetainly to get a mark from a wet dog nose or snagged by a paw if I put them on any sooner.
I stand corrected, the correct way to wear these leggings are at left.
Stylist.Com states:
Leggings are OK if they’re worn for sheer laziness and comfort. Running out to the market for a dozen eggs? Sure throw on your oversized hoodie over a pair of leggings to dash in and out. However, leggings with a tunic, or under a ragged, fraying cut-off denim mini-skirt gets “beef” from us. OK, so maybe you call them “footless tights,” in which case, wearing them with a short skirt makes sense to preserve some modesty. Then why wouldn’t you just wear normal, footed tights? Do your ankles really need that badly to breathe? Our own Annie Wu put it best: “Wearing these skin-tight leggings under an obscenely short skirt still means you’re wearing an obscenely short skirt. Modesty does not accompany wearing a paint-thin layer of fabric under what is virtually a headband.
Maybe I am not so “out of the loop” on fashion as I think I am. I still like my idea, however, about getting some in order to “cheat” and wearing fluffy socks.
