Are You a Social Networking Junkie? Win a Free Scholarship!
There are a lot of websites and blogs that were created for the sole purpose of an individual promoting their real or perceived financial need. I always wondered how someone could come up with such a cleaver idea or such a compelling case why complete strangers should bail them out of their credit card debt, that maybe they should be hired for those that are in a more serious state of affairs.
There is a site that purports to be giving away free scholarships that are not based on academic or athletic merit. You participate in activities on the site to earn more points. Each points puts your name in the hat another time to win in their $10,000 monthly giveaway. The minimum prize that you can win is $3,500 in scholarship money. To win, you need to be 18 years or older and have enrolled or plan on enrolling in a college or university program during the next twelve months. If I won, I would enroll. I have been wanting to go back.
Many of the activities that win points are quizzes, surveys, and polls, or reading informational articles on the site. There are also ways to get points by using Digg, Myspace, or other social media to promote the idea. I do see information interspersed here and there about deals for students on credit cards. Perhaps that is how they partly fund the site.
I think this is a great idea. There are so many potential students glued to the computer that maybe this will make their time pay off even more.
