Eighteen Days Old and Orphaned

I could really use your help.

There is a litter of puppies in a shelter in Georgia, more specifically Heard County Animal Control in Franklin.   Their mother dog has died from heat stroke and left these little ones behind.  They are at least have a roof over them, but it is not much consolation, as they are at a kill shelter.  At 18 days old, they are not old enough to live without their mother.   They need her for survival, for nutrition, and socialization.

Right now, the pups are being fed a combination of milk replacement and wet dog food, but that will not sustain them for long.  What they need the most is a rescue who has a mother dog who is nursing and willing to adopt a few more, or a mother dog who is just weaning her puppies.  There is no photo yet, I will not have one until tomorrow, but wanted to get spreading the word right away.

Euthanization day at the shelter is Friday.  These puppies are not on the list, but they could very well die on their own from failure to thrive.

If you are a rescue or foster home with a nursing mother dog, can you please help.

Contact the shelter right away.  This week, Angela, the Animal Control Officer, is there alone, so if she is out on a call, there is no one to answer the phone.  Please leave a message if you can help, including a number to reach you at and the name of your rescue.  You will have to find a way to pick the puppies up at this point, as transportation help is very short.
