I’m Back
A few days ago, I reported on a new website that didn’t merely hand out a list of Back Exercises for people like me who were at the computer a good chunk of the day. Back2yourself.com acted as a personal trainer in many ways, giving you feedback, instructional videos, and coaching. I have signed up for their free trial, and have been folllowing some instructional videos.
One of the first things they instruct you on is how to stand properly. So much of our pain is exacerbated by the way we not only slouch, but misalign ourselves. It as tough at first to stand correctly, with my pelvis neither thrown forward or too far back, and my feet square on the ground. After being conscious of this all day, I can definitely say that I felt a bit more energized. I noticed it more so when I went to bed. Some parts of my body felt a little weird (not a scientific term, I know), but once I laid down in bed, I noticed that I wasn’t feeling the knee and back pain that I usually do. The best way to describe it is that I noticed the absence of pain, more so than I had noticed the actual pain on other nights, if that makes any sense.
I sometimes go through spurts of finding something that helps me, and then not following through. They say it takes 21 days to make a habit. I think that by looking at the videos in the morning while I am trying to become conscious will help. It also is a much better alternative than pain relievers, which take a toll on my stomach.
The other thing that they make sure, is that before doing any exercises, you are doing them correctly. Instead of carefully rolling the back, we tend to jerk ourselves around an awful lot. It either causes us more harm, or merely makes our attempts at exercise unproductive. Stretching improperly can also make exercises that are made for relaxation leave us feeling tired rather than relaxed.
I am going to review the trial videos again, and I highly recommend them to anyone. I am strongly considering signing up. Because I am under the trial period, a 50% discount on access to core training materials is available to me. It’s only $14.95 for 3 months. It seems well worth it as preventative medicine. I will update you on how I do. If you are trying it as well, let me know, and we can compare our results.

Sounds terrific. Posture is sooooo important! And any source which makes you aware of your posture, and which advises you correctly, sounds excellent. A lot of trainers and gyms don’t even teach people how to do their exercises correctly. Always smoooooth. Breathing correctly. Never jerking. Gentle. Smooth. Go WITH the body, not against it. Breathe.
