HoundsGood: Chronicles of a Virtual Volunteer

A friend of mine was looking for some decent dog articles to beef up a website. I don’t know why she would want to shop for content. I write every word of my site myself, not just to create something that other people would want to read, but just for the love of writing. It is a hobby, avocation, and profession of mine. No matter what, and no matter how busy I am, I would probably be writing in the evening or first thing in the morning.

Over at Article Alley, there is a whole index of dog related articles.   Scrolling through, I definitely can see where this would come in handy for a website of a local animal organization.   One might not have the volunteer involvement to turn out general articles of interest for an ever changing online newsletter, such as those on safety tips. You can include these articles on your site, as long as you properly cite the article with all bylines and links required.  I was hopeful when I saw all the obedience, and safety articles, but was a little crestfallen finding a few articles on dog breeding.  Hopefully, the majority of them are to dissuade most people from the idea.

I have been thinking about writing an article or two and submitting it, just to bring some more readers to come check out my site. It would more or act as a press release.  Of course, you may not republish content from my website without permission, but if I submit an article into the database, it would be free for use with a byline.

Have you tried anything like this before, and if so, what did you think?
