Close the Flea Maternity Ward

National Flea Treatment Month came to an end last weekend on Thursday in the United Kingdom. Different stockists offered and continue to offer discounts on treatment options, such as frontline flea treatment . More important than the incentives is maintaining an active awareness of pest prevention throughout the year and especially the summer season.

Did you know that you have a flea incubator right inside your home? It’s a little known fact.

Vacuuming the rugs, pet beds and other frequent resting places loosens and removes flea eggs and juveniles. However, if the vacuum is not emptied, the warm and dark chamber a vacuum canister provides is the perfect environment for fleas to hatch in. For vacuums with removable bags, dispose of them promptly. If you have a canister vacuum, empty the canister in the trash bin outdoors, rather than allowing the refuse to sit in an open waste bin in the house.

When the flea maternity ward closes, the potential tragic infestation of the home is averted. Topical flea preventative protects the treated pet from bites, but does not protect your carpets or untreated pets. Check with your vet before starting a topical regimen if your pet has a compromised immune system. Flea preventative is extra critical for those pets, but you must make sure the product is appropriate.
