I have never been so appalled in my entire life!! This is the sickest lowest of scum! These people have no regard for those who were left to mourn this beautiful woman. How would they feel if it were their daughter, girlfriend, sister? To Merediths family, I am so sorry your having to go through this. Your in my prayers.

I salute beauty product companies that don't test their products on animals. They should be given due preference.

What a great consumer awareness post! I don't text from my cell phone, so I knew nothing about the Haiti 90999 until I saw it in the FAIL photo. But yeah, that poor girl who has to pay $2000 who didn't think it was her money! :S Maybe the young kids these days are so used to getting "free" things that it doesn't occur to them that *someone* has to pay for things they do. ?

Good advice here!

Really enjoyed reading your info. I get so upset at the way people are abandoning their animals. I volunteer at a local shelter and the love I receive from these poor babies is just overwhelming. Good luck and keep up the blog.

On the contrary, the representatives for Dogs Deserves Better are clearly and openly listed on their website, so if you wish to discuss it, I would contact your local representative. Someone may have suggested they send a Valentine because they care about your dog.

Are you providing your dog with adequate water and shelter out there? It does not matter if the dog is fenced if he doesn't have water, and some sort of structure to be able to get out of the elements, not to mention escape to it if need be. There may be laws in your area requiring certain shelters as well, so you may want to check into it to see if you comply. If someone passes by your property frequently and never sees anyone interacting with the dog, etc., perhaps they perceive that the dog is not part of the family, or they may see your dog languishing in the August heat and wonder why you do not bring your dog in the air conditioning at that time. Just some things to think about before you shoot the messenger.

I received on of these anonymous Valentines from my Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog today. He is in a large fenced yard with goats that he lovingly protects. He is healthy, happy, and wouldn't come inside if we dragged him (his winter coat would make him miserable).

This is idiotic harassment and nothing more. Sorry to rant here, but the cowards that sent the stuff aren't available for discussion.

Thanks, Chris. I am thrilled with the reviews myself! The book's official launch was January 19th. Somehow Amazon had some books available during the pre-sale that were shipped. Luckily for me they enjoyed the book.

I would love to hear what your readers think and if they have questions for me, I am happy to answer.

Take good care.

Hi Allison, thanks for stopping by, and for the clarification. What confused me perhaps was reading the reviews on Amazon. There were a number of reviews for the book already, even though it was just released the day before. That influenced me to believe that the book must have been available in a prior edition and the workbook is what was new as they couldn't have possibly received the book yet. It is possible, however, that the reviewers were so excited about it that they did not wait for Amazon, but snapped it up at their local store and devoured it in one sitting. I haven't seen that happen since the last Harry Potter book came out, so maybe that is a big sign of additional great things to come for you.

Hi there. Thank you so much for reviewing my Blast Off Book and Workbook. I really appreciate you taking the time and writing a great post. I just want to clarify that the Workbook is not a stand alone book. The Blast Off Book is an inspirational step-by-step program w lots of exercises to help the reader make profound progress in their life. The workbook has the same exercises, but also room to do the work in. Like a journal, but specifically designed for the Blast Off Success Plan. I just want to make sure your readers don't buy the Workbook and say, "Okay where is the insight and substance?" That is in Blast Off book. I agree that there are so many books that leave you all excited & motivated, then you are left trying to figure out what to do next and then keep the momentum going. That does not get you very far. That is why the book lays out a very clear plan to re-ignite your passion with a structured roadmap and tools (like the workbook) to help you make it happen. Thanks!! Allison Maslan

I've always believed it was the dog owner, not the dog. About a month ago i got chased by two pitbulls while walking to my car which was parked out in front of my home. You could only tell the owners were bad owners by how these dogs looked. I had a friend who owned three pits and they were really good dogs, very calm, very happy. I notice in the insurance industry I sometimes have a hard time finding a company that will provide homeowners insurance if there's a pitbull in the yard. What they should do is inspect the dog when they inspect the home. It's pretty easy to tell the difference between an abused "high risk" pitbull from a calm one. I do disagree with the ban. But I also disagree with certain people being able to own dogs regardless of the breed.
